Salford City’s long-term project led by Manchester United icons Gary Neville and David Beckham continues to evolve as the club enters a new managerial era following a period of transition in the dugout.

Since the Class of ’92 took ownership back in 2014, the club has climbed from non-league football with consistent investment and ambition, driven by a clear desire to establish Salford as a serious force in the EFL system.

After their League Two play-off final defeat to Notts County, changes were made as the club looked to reset and push forward once again.

Salford City decided to sack Karl Robinson following their 3-0 defeat to Notts County in the League Two play-off final at Wembley.

That decision has now led to the appointment of Peter Cklamovski as Salford City’s new Men’s First Team Manager, as they announced on their website.

The 47-year-old arrives from international management with Malaysia, and has also built experience coaching in Japan and Australia, earning a reputation for attacking football and strong youth development.

Chief Football Advisor Paul Scholes highlighted the club’s excitement at the appointment, praising both his attacking philosophy and defensive standards.

“Peter brings a style of football that we like to watch – exciting, attacking football. But he’s not just about scoring goals – he’s obsessed with keeping clean sheets too.

“He wants his teams to be ruthless and to have a clear identity – and that’s something that we’re excited to bring to the club.”

Peter Cklamovski outlines his vision for Salford City

Peter Cklamovski himself outlined his vision for the club, stressing unity, intensity and a clear identity built on hard work and attacking intent.

“I’m here with a great opportunity to do something special, and it’s a great challenge.

“The owners have got lofty ambitions, the Club’s got big aspirations to achieve something special and that resonates with me.

“The way to do that and achieve success is together, and working hard on a daily basis together to grow the football club, and I’m looking forward to getting started on that.

“We want to build a mentality around the game where we fight for everything with passion, commitment, discipline, but get on the ball, be brave, be committed, and have that forward intent to score goals.

“We want to be aggressive, attacking, and we want to get our fans off their seats, get them jumping.

“That style is built off a daily process on the training pitch and a really clear training methodology that the players will enjoy, but work hard for and have that mindset to get better every day.

“I’m really passionate about that and the way we do that is do that together. That’s everyone at the Club, all the fans behind the players, and together we can achieve something special.”

His appointment came after his name was strongly considered when Salford opted to part ways with Karl Robinson, with the club now aiming to build a more defined identity moving forward.

With the backing of United legends and a clear footballing philosophy in place, Salford will hope this latest change marks another step in their long-term climb up the English football pyramid.
