Feyenoord officially appoint former Liverpool coach to replace Robin van Persie

The departure of Robin van Persie from Feyenoord earlier this month has now led to the appointment of a former Liverpool coach as the club’s new head coach.
The former Manchester United striker was dismissed after a difficult spell in charge.
Feyenoord finished 19 points behind PSV Eindhoven, who won the league title.
The decision has forced the Dutch giants to begin the search for a replacement ahead of the 2026/27 season.
They have now turned to a familiar face.
The move comes after another major change involving Feyenoord and Liverpool.
At the end of last month, Liverpool officially parted company with Arne Slot, with Giovanni van Bronckhorst leaving his role as one of the Dutchman’s assistant coaches at Anfield.
Slot, of course, also enjoyed huge success during his own time as Feyenoord manager.
Now, another member of that coaching setup has returned to Rotterdam.
Feyenoord have confirmed on their official website that Van Bronckhorst has been appointed as the club’s new head coach.
It is expected that Spike Hulshoff will join him as assistant coach.
Van Bronckhorst is no stranger to Feyenoord.
The 51-year-old enjoyed a distinguished career there as both a player and a manager.
During his previous spell in charge, he guided the club to the Eredivisie title and KNVB Cup before moving on to further managerial roles with Rangers and Besiktas.
His time in Scotland saw him lead Rangers to the Europa League final and domestic success.
The return of the former Netherlands international is viewed as a major appointment for Feyenoord as they look to challenge for silverware once again.
With Robin van Persie leaving earlier this month and Van Bronckhurst departing Liverpool’s coaching staff following Slot’s exit, the Dutch club have completed a high-profile managerial change ahead of the new campaign.
