Cam Skattebo Says He’ll Be the Same Player After 2025 Season-Ending Injury

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo is preparing to get back on the field after missing more than half of his rookie season due to an injury. The 24-year-old is preparing to get back after a massive season-ending ankle injury. While there are questions surrounding his longevity and ability to return to form, Skattebo is not questioning it one bit. Let’s take a closer look at what he said and what it means for the New York Giants going forward.

While appearing on The Insiders on Wednesday, New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo made it known that his ankle injury last season is not going to be a factor for him going forward.

“It ain’t gonna change who I am. I had an injury, you know, it is what it is. I’ve still got plenty of football left, plenty of life left, I’m not going to let this little ankle thing bother me. I’m going to get back [to] running people over like you see on the videos. It’s going to be normal Cam Skattebo from here on out.”

To call it a “little ankle thing” is putting it lightly. Skattebo suffered a dislocated ankle in Week 8, which ended his season. However, Skattebo would mention how he believes in the way the new coaching staff is treating his recovery.

“Coach Harbaugh and Nagy, I’ve felt nothing but support and love from them. They’re always on me about getting back, and they’re starting to see where I’m at in my proces and they’re starting to trust it. They’ve been really good to me. I trust both of those two, as [well] as everybody else on the staff. It’s been nothing but joy and happiness for me, just starting to fall back in love with the game after an injury for sure.”

Skattebo had a strong start to his rookie season before suffering a dislocated ankle. He posted 101 rushing attempts for 410 yards (4.1 yards per carry) with five rushing touchdowns. Skattebo also had 24 receptions for 207 yards (8.6 yards per catch) with a pair of receiving touchdowns. The franchise has Tyrone Tracy Jr, Devin Singletary, Eric Gray, Dante Miller, and Damon Bankston in the running back room currently.

It will be intriguing to see if he is able to have that same explosiveness when he is healthy and cleared for a new-look Giants team.
