Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool will not be stopping at Victor Munoz in the summer window.

The club pulled off one of the more eye-catching transfer hijacks of the early window by swooping in on Newcastle United’s move for the Osasuna winger, triggering his €40 million (£34.6m) release clause and beating Eddie Howe’s side to the line.

Newcastle had been in advanced talks with the player for some time and thought they had their man, but Liverpool acted decisively – and quickly – to end the chase before it became a prolonged battle.

Munoz signed a six-year contract at Anfield, becoming the first arrival of the Andoni Iraola era. Notably, Real Madrid will pocket around €20 million from the deal thanks to a 50 percent sell-on clause retained when Munoz left the club last summer.

But it won’t stop there.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano explained that Liverpool will be looking for another winger besides Munoz, likely Yan Dioande:

“Also, important to mention, many Liverpool fans asking me after I dropped this bomba on my channels, this means that the deal is closing doors to signing another winger, so, the winger wanted by Liverpool was Victor Munoz.”

“My answer is no. My answer is that in the plan of Richard Hughes, they are doing an excellent job, Richard Hughes, Michael Edwards in planning their signings and keeping things secret till we have the exclusive bomba like today,” the Italian transfer guru explained.

“But they are working behind the scenes, also to add at least one more winger to the squad.”

“So, Victor Munoz for sure was seen as a super talent, big potential, an opportunity on the market, with a release clause, so quite fast as a deal to do, and Liverpool decided to enter.

“But also don’t forget the salary. Victor Munoz is on a very small salary at Osasuna, so obviously, financially was an easy opportunity to close as soon as possible for the Reds.

“But then the idea of Liverpool is to add one more player to the squad, is to add one more winger to the squad.”

Yan Diomande impressed at the World Cup in Ivory Coast’s opening 1-0 win against Ecuador.
