Manchester United continue to monitor the next generation of attacking talent as the club looks to strengthen its long-term recruitment strategy under INEOS.
The Red Devils have been heavily involved in scouting some of England’s brightest young prospects, with a focus on identifying players before they become established Premier League stars.
That approach has seen United keep tabs on several teenagers across the country, including one Leicester City winger who has already made history despite his young age.
However, Arsenal have now moved quickly in the race for the highly rated youngster.
Leicester City receive bid for Jeremy Monga
The Gunners have submitted an official bid for Jeremy Monga, with reports from Fabrizio Romano on X claiming negotiations are progressing at pace.
The 16-year-old has attracted major attention after becoming one of the youngest players ever to feature in the Premier League, making his Leicester debut during the 2024/25 season at just 15 years old.
Jeremy Monga went on to make 7 league appearances after being introduced to senior football, becoming the second-youngest player in Premier League history at the time before Arsenal prospect Max Dowman later moved ahead of him.
The winger was only 15 years, eight months and 28 days old when he stepped onto the pitch against Newcastle United in April 2025.
His development continued at a rapid rate, with Monga making 30 appearances across all competitions during the 2025/26 campaign and becoming the Championship’s youngest-ever goalscorer.
Leicester previously managed to resist interest from several clubs before securing his future with an academy scholarship once he turned 16.
Manchester United have also been keeping a close eye on the teenager, with the club understood to have held discussions with Leicester over a potential move.
Those talks were reportedly focused on understanding the structure of a possible deal rather than entering formal negotiations.
Arsenal, though, appear to have taken the initiative after reportedly agreeing personal terms with the player earlier this month following discussions led by sporting director Andrea Berta.
The move highlights the increasing competition for elite young talent, with United now needing to decide whether to step up their pursuit or allow Arsenal to take another highly rated prospect away from the market.
