While Prescott returned to action, several roster battles continued during minicamp. Rookie running back Phil Mafah received the first rep with the starters while Javonte Williams sat out team drills. Mafah also impressed during 11-on-11 work, continuing a strong offseason and strengthening his case for a larger role in the backfield.
The running back competition is important for a Dallas offense seeking more balance. A dependable contributor behind Williams could help reduce pressure on Prescott and give the offense additional flexibility throughout the season.
The defense also produced encouraging performances.
