Liverpool has confirmed the $46 million (£35 million) arrival of Victor Munoz from Osasuna, with the 22-year-old Spanish international becoming the first signing of the Andoni Iraola era.

Taking to X, the club's official account posted, "We have agreed a deal to sign Victor Munoz from Osasuna, subject to a successful work permit application and international clearance."

Munoz is currently at the World Cup with his country. Last season, he scored seven goals and provided five assists in all competitions for a team that only avoided relegation into the second tier thanks to goal difference.

In need of more quality in wide areas after the departure of Mohamed Salah, Liverpool is expected to have another busy summer. Munoz will inject fresh legs and speed in the Reds' forward line.

For Osasuna, Munoz predominantly played on the left flank, but he can also operate as a number 10 or from the right-hand side. That versatility is a huge asset.

At Bournemouth, Iraola got the best out of the likes of Antoine Semenyo in wide areas. The former Cherries boss also liked players who could play on both sides of his attack.

"I think I have the advantage that I've been here already three years in the Premier League and people for sure have seen Bournemouth play," Iraola said when he arrived to replace Arne Slot.

"There are some things that obviously we need to change coaching Liverpool.

"But I wouldn't like to lose our identity, the intensity, the aggressiveness, the organization, certain things that I would like always to have in my team.

"Obviously you have to adapt to the players you have and it's not the same, one club or the other, but there are fundamentals that I also think match quite well [with] what Liverpool has been during a lot of years that I think we can make it work.

"For me, football is about emotions. About passion. I'm quite cool-headed probably, during my life quite rational, I would say.

Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.

"But it's true that when the game starts, when you have to celebrate a goal, something is inside, no? I think this inner energy, you need it as a player, you need it as a supporter, you need it as a coach. No better place than Anfield."

Liverpool will play Sunderland, Wrexham, Leeds, Monaco and Como during pre-season. The first of those fixtures in the US will take place around a week after the World Cup final.
