Rafael Leao has addressed speculation surrounding his future following the appointment of Ruben Amorim as AC Milan’s new head coach.

The Portugal international continues to attract significant attention ahead of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are among the clubs reported to be interested in the winger as they assess attacking reinforcements for the 2026/27 season.

Former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim was officially appointed AC Milan head coach earlier this week after leaving Old Trafford in January.

That appointment has added another layer of intrigue to Leao’s situation.

Questions have persisted over the attacker’s long-term future after reports earlier this year suggested he could depart the San Siro.

At the end of last month, Rafael Leao hinted that he will leave AC Milan this summer in search of a new challenge.

Now, the 27-year-old has spoken publicly following Amorim’s arrival in Milan.

According to comments shared by journalist Nicolo Schira on X, Leao was asked whether Amorim’s appointment could influence his decision to remain at the club.

The Portugal international responded: “If Ruben Amorim’s arrival pushes me to stay at Milan? Right now I’m just thinking about the World Cup and helping my national team. When the World Cup is over, I’ll think about my future.”

The comments stop short of providing any definitive answer regarding his next move.

However, they suggest a final decision will not be made until after international duties conclude.

Leao and Amorim know each other well through Portuguese football, and Milan’s hierarchy will hope the new coach can convince some of the club’s key players to remain.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s reported interest is likely to continue attracting attention, particularly given Amorim’s previous connection to the club and Leao’s profile as one of Europe’s most highly-rated forwards.

For now, though, the winger appears focused solely on the World Cup, with discussions regarding his club future set to take place once the tournament comes to an end.
