Los Angeles Chargers: Top Receiver Expected Back for Training Camp

The Los Angeles Chargers wrap up the final day of mandatory minicamp on Thursday. Once practice finishes, the team will have a month-long break until training camp begins in late July. Highlighting one injury to monitor is Ladd McConkey, who missed part of organized team activities and was limited to individual drills during minicamp due to a soft-tissue injury.

Ladd McConkey has been dealing with a hamstring strain since Phase 2 of the offseason workout program. According to Kris Rhim of ESPN NFL Nation, the Chargers’ top receiving threat said he expects to be ready for training camp, not wanting to aggravate the injury. McConkey also added that he has had to learn Mike McDaniel’s playbook in a classroom setting rather than getting live reps.

“There’s no reason to rush it and really push it and then have another setback and then you bleed into training camp,” McConkey said, via Rhim.

“I feel like I’ve kind of had to switch my mindset. I can’t be out there getting the physical reps, but like what can I do mentally to make up that gap.”

Fans react to the injury update

This is ridiculous. To have this existing injury for all this time, it’s crazy. If it’s a problem now, imagine how it’s going to be during the season, it will pop back up. Not a good way to start off. 🤦 #Chargers #Bolts

Justin Herbert needs his new weapons at 100% if the Chargers are going to make noise this year.
