Liverpool would be willing to put together a package worth around €100 million ($115 million/£85 million) to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig this summer.
It is understood that the Reds have held talks with the Bundesliga side over a deal for the 19-year-old, who has been an early star of the World Cup after a season in which he impressed for Leipzig. The Red Bull club would ideally like to keep Diomande for another 12 months, but Liverpool and PSG are both keen.
Liverpool's interest is serious and it is on the hunt for more attacking reinforcements following the acquisition of Victor Munoz from Osasuna. It was suggested earlier that the Reds were leading the race for Diomande, but discussions are ongoing.
Reports in Germany have claimed that Liverpool has made an official bid, but talks are understood to have been held. Dialogue is continuing between the two parties, with Leipzig wanting to hold out for as high a price as possible.
Having lost Mohamed Salah this summer and with Federico Chiesa potentially heading for the exit door, Liverpool needs more depth in attack.
Munoz will go some way to filling the void in terms of pace and trickery, but Diomande would be another top-quality addition. The teenager was one of the breakout stars across the European game last term.

Last summer, Liverpool spent big to sign the likes of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak.
It also brought in Hugo Ekitike, though the French forward is out injured with a serious Achilles issue at the moment.
"For me, football is about emotions and about passion," Andoni Iraola said when he took over from Arne Slot, who was fired a week after the season finished.
"I'm quite cool-headed probably, during my life quite rational, I would say. But it's true that when the game starts, when you have to celebrate a goal, something is inside, no?
