New Real Madrid star Marc Cucurella has sent a message the way of the Barcelona supporters left angered by his decision to join Los Blancos.
Defender Cucurella of course put pen to paper on a long-term contract in Spain’s capital earlier this week.
Following a quickfire round of negotiations with Premier League giants Chelsea, Florentino Pérez and co. struck a big-money agreement to add to José Mourinho’s options at left-back.
As alluded to above, though, Cucurella’s decision to take his talents to the Bernabéu has not gone down at all well amongst those of a Barcelona persuasion…
After the 27-year-old spent his formative years developing in La Masia, before being heavily linked with a move back to the Camp Nou, many in fact went as far as to label Cucurella a snake and traitor.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, the subject of the Blaugrana backlash was in turn put to the defender himself.
And Cucurella, during an interview with El Mundo (as cited by **[Fabrizio Romano](https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/2067664052092911880)**) went on to respond as follows:
“Barcelona fans angry at me? You can not reject Real Madrid. I am very happy with my decision.
“You have to respect the opinions. I am very grateful for everything Barcelona gave me. But when Real Madrid insists so much, it is very difficult to reject and I had no doubts.”
