Ben Jacobs: Man United ready to rival Liverpool for£61m-rated star

Manchester United are aiming to sign a new left winger this summer.

United have made an enquiry about West Ham United forward Crysencio Summerville. The Netherlands international is valued at £50 million.

Ben Jacobs, through the United Stand, now claims United have added Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo as a left-wing option. He also said Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye is being considered.

Liverpool are also targeting Fernandez-Pardo as an alternative to their primary target, Yan Diomande. He is available for £61m.

The 21-year-old returned to Lille in 2024, four years after leaving the club as an academy player. He registered seven goal involvements in his debut season in the French top-flight.

Fernandez-Pardo reached new heights last term, helping Lille secure Champions League qualification. He topped the goalscoring and assist charts for the French side.

The Brussels-born forward ranked first in Lille squad for both total shots and shot on target per game, highlighting his directness.

Adding to his attacking attributes is his creativity. He ranked second for key passes per game and fourth for big chances created.

Fernandez-Pardo excels in one-on-ones, allowing him to unlock low-block defences. He averaged more successful dribbles per game than any Lille player in Ligue 1 last term.

He was named in Belgium squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He made his debut as a substitute in their opening game against Egypt.

United are unlikely to step up their interest in Fernandez-Pardo for now, as they are focused on strengthening their midfield options.

The Mancunian giants want to sell forward Marcus Rashford before signing a left-winger. Saudi Pro League sides Al Qadsiah and Al-Diraiyah, and Barcelona are all interested in the English forward.
