Tottenham face Everton competition for Feyenoord star who netted 26 goals last season

Tottenham could battle Everton for the signing of Eredivise striker.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed their third signing of the summer transfer window in the form of defender Jan Paul van Hecke. He has further fortified the club’s defensive unit after Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi arrived on free transfers earlier this month.

The North Londoners also exploded into the race to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali earlier this week, with ENIC keen to show their ambition and back our head coach Roberto De Zerbi in the transfer market to avoid another disastrous season. They have reportedly also revived interest in West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville.

Spurs remain keen to add to their forward line, owing to last season’s struggles in front of goal. Richarlison was the only forward who emerged with some credit after netting 11 league goals. Randal Kolo Muani and Dominic Solanke contributed very little, and with the former having returned to PSG following the expiry of his loan spell, the N17 bosses have an urge to replace him in the squad.

Tottenham face competition from Everton for Feyenoord sharpshooter

Recent reports have indicated that Tottenham are keeping tabs on Feyenoord striker Ayase Ueda. The Japanese international shone for Feyenoord with 26 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions this past season. The 27-year-old, who started Japan’s opening World Cup game against the Netherlands, is open to a move to the Premier League this summer.

However, Spurs are not the only club vying for his signature. According to a report from The Times, Everton have entered the race for Ayase Ueda. They have scouted the player extensively in recent months and are weighing up an offer, with Feyenoord open to listening to offers of around £30million.

The Lilywhites must act!

Many expected Tottenham to bring in a new forward following Son Heung-min’s departure last year. Yet, the Hotspur Way chiefs appeared to undervalue the importance of replacing the South Korean legend, opting instead to rely on the existing options. As a result, the club paid the consequences of that poor decision.

Spurs cannot commit the same mistake again this time around by not adding another striker to their ranks ahead of the new campaign. Ueda, in that regard, would not be a bad option. The South Asian forward has pace, power, movement, and the ability to finish off chances. The Feyenoord man would add depth to Tottenham’s forward ranks, but Everton’s presence should bother the Lilywhites.

That said, if Tottenham bosses really feel Ueda has the potential to make a difference in De Zerbi’s side, they must act swiftly.
