FOOTBALL
This week, Brendan Sorsby made the wise decision to apply to enter the NFL supplemental draft. He bet on his team while playing at Indiana, and was trying to be eligible at Texas Tech.
He received a temporary restraining order to play this season, but the Big 12 conference was fighting that feverishly.
Sorsby is gone, so who’ll be the Red Raider quarterback in 2026. Fans of Texas Tech know him well, but outsiders are studying up on Will Hammond.
He played in eight games last year, throwing seven touchdown passes and three interceptions. The dual-threat quarterback tore his ACL last season, but should be good to go by this regular season.
Las Vegas has faith in Hammond and the Red Raiders. They’re over/under win total is 10.5 games. Their non-conference opponents are Abilene Christian, Oregon State, and Sam Houston.
Yeah, not Ohio State or Clemson, which Texas and LSU are playing this year in non-conference games.
Yes, losing Sorsby is tough for Texas Tech, but with a lighter schedule and Hammond returning, they should be int he College Football Playoff this year.
FÚTBOL
Nothing last forever, and that’s especially true in this year’s World Cup. Just ask the former head coach of Tunisia.
After Sweden thrashed the “Eagles of Carthage,” yes that’s their nickname, their coach Sabri Lamouchi was fired. One game at the World Cup and he’s done. My oh my, tough crowd.
In his place is Herve Renard. He managed Saudi Arabia to a famous victory over Argentina and Lionel Messi in the 2022 World Cup. Messi and Argentina went on to win the World Cup in Qatar.
Will Tunisia get the same return on investment? It’s too early to tell, but coming in a few days before their next match on Sunday against Japan is a tough predicament for any new coach.
FOOD
