Liverpool will learn their Premier League opening day opponents on Friday, with the release of the full fixture list allowing for more focus on their summer transfer plans. The Reds already have Andoni Iraola installed as their new manager and have begun to make significant moves.

Jeremy Jacquet became the Reds' first new signing, with a switch from Rennes finalised well before Arne Slot was dismissed and Iraola agreed to take his place. Victor Munoz is set to follow and the young Spanish talent has plenty of eyes on him though - at the time of writing - an Anfield switch has yet to be confirmed.

Several departures have also taken place, with out-of-contract duo Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate securing moves elsewhere. Robertson's transfer to Tottenham was announced before the window officially opened, while Real Madrid revealed on Thursday that Konate would join Jose Mourinho's squad for the 2026/27 campaign.

Today, however, our focus has shifted to potential arrivals, with plenty of time to clinch deals before Liverpool begin their pre-season programme in July. Here are our latest updates from around Anfield.

Munoz transfer 'includes Real Madrid clause'

According to Spanish media reports, Liverpool's proposed transfer for Osasuna star Victor Munoz features a sell-on clause. Interestingly, though, it is claimed to be one which doesn't involve the Pamplona outfit but rather his former side Real Madrid.

Los Blancos reportedly received approximately £4.3m from Osasuna for 50 per cent of Munoz's rights when the player moved north in 2025, with Madrid also securing a buy-back clause. Liverpool are said to have contacted the side from the Spanish capital to ensure they wouldn't activate the clause to bring back the 22 year old attacker, prompting what would be an unusual extra element to the deal.

Liverpool are set to meet Munoz's release clause in its entirety and these unconfirmed reports suggest they will also permit Real Madrid to keep an undisclosed buy-back clause which the La Liga side could exercise in 2027. The transfer fee paid by the Reds will be divided evenly between Madrid and Osasuna as they share the player's rights.

Reds edge out Newcastle once more

A transfer for Munoz would feel all too familiar for Newcastle United. The Tyneside club had also been pursuing the Spaniard, but efforts to pay less than his release clause left the door open for Liverpool to gazump them.

It's a scenario which may bring back painful memories for Eddie Howe's outfit. Last summer, the Magpies made an early move for Hugo Ekitike at the beginning of the transfer window only to watch the Frenchman head to Anfield.

Newcastle also witnessed star striker Alexander Isak depart for Liverpool on deadline day and saw hopes of signing defensive target Marc Guehi diminish when Liverpool entered the race. In the end, however, Guehi's switch to Anfield collapsed and he ultimately signed for Manchester City midway through the campaign.
