William Gallas has suggested that Chelsea should make a move for Marcus Rashford. The Manchester United winger faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford after Barcelona chose not to activate the option-to-buy clause in the loan agreement.
Rashford, who will enter the final two years of his contract with the Red Devils next month, featured 49 times for the Catalan outfit across all competitions last season, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists. He relished a key role in Hansi Flick's side, helping them win La Liga.
Despite catching the eye, Barcelona overlooked the England international and instead signed his fellow countryman, Anthony Gordon, from Newcastle United. According to The Athletic, the Spanish champions turned their nose up at the option to sign Rashford for just €30m (£26m).
The report claims that the clause expired on Monday and the forward will return to Carrington next month. As it stands, it's unclear where Rashford will play his football next term, but a return to Camp Nou still can't be ruled out.

The Athletic reckon there is a £40m release clause available to potential suitors, apart from United's rivals Manchester City and Liverpool. A handful of Premier League clubs have already reportedly expressed interest, but the 28-year-old would rather honour his contract at Old Trafford than join another English team.
Rashford may be a tough nut to crack, but Gallas has urged Chelsea to test the waters. Speaking to talkSPORT Bet, the former Blues defender said: "I think Marcus Rashford did well at Barcelona.
"They had a good system. I'm surprised he didn't sign for them permanently. I don't know what happened. I don't know if Arsenal want to sign him, but I would say Chelsea would be a better fit given how they play.
"I don't think he would fit at Arsenal. I'm sure he wanted to stay in Barcelona, but it didn't happen. If he has to come back to the Premier League, or maybe go somewhere else like Italy, we will see. But I could picture him at Chelsea."
Rashford made quite the impression during England's win over Croatia in the World Cup on Wednesday night. The United winger came off the bench to put the fourth and final nail in the coffin, beating Dominik Livakovic from close range with a lovely finish.

Following the clash, Rio Ferdinand urged the Red Devils to re-evaluate Rashford's future before Premier League clubs begin queuing up for his signature. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the United legend said: "It seems like Marcus Rashford has matured.
"The time away from the club may have done him the good he needed, and maybe it’s cleansed both parties. Is it time? Is it time to shake hands and for him to say, 'I’m back. I think you can see a maturity with Marcus Rashford now.
"That spell at Barcelona has worked out in a way that he now understands his role. He was an impact player at times for Barcelona, and that could be his role with England as well. If he’s coming off the bench and making that impact, then that’s a huge asset to the squad because we’re going to need those players.

"If I’m the opposing full-back and I see Marcus Rashford warming up, you are looking over to the bench and hoping to get subbed off because you don't want that smoke. He's not coming on to see the game out, he's coming on to hurt you."
