Sander Berge has been deemed ‘one to keep an eye on’ in Manchester United’s ongoing pursuit of midfielders, according to Ben Jacobs.
Having already tied up a £39 million deal for Atalanta’s Ederson, it seems INEOS are turning their attention to Premier League-proven stars.
United consider surprise swoop for Sander Berge or Carlos Baleba
That’s why, in recent weeks, the Red Devils have been continuously linked with the likes of Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali and Elliot Anderson, albeit the latter looks nailed-on for a move to Manchester City instead.
Yet, according to Jacobs, long-standing target Carlos Baleba and Berge are firm options on the shortlist.
Baleba very nearly joined United last summer after an approach was made in the closing stages of the summer window, to which the Cameroonian made it clear he’d be open to the switch.
However, Brighton and Hove Albion blocked the transfer, as they were keen to keep hold of one of their main men for at least another season.

How has Berge fared in recent years
As for Berge, he has moved around clubs since arriving in England from Genk in 2020.
The 28-year-old spent three years with Sheffield United before signing for Burnley in 2023. Then, following their relegation from the top flight, he joined Fulham two years ago.

Berge’s complete PL record
Currently, Berge is playing a vital role for his nation at the World Cup along with fellow Premier League stars Martin Odegaard and Erling Haaland, so any concrete talks with the player himself will likely have to wait until Norway’s campaign is over.
His contract at Craven Cottage runs until June 2029, and it remains to be seen what kind of fee the London outfit would demand.
