Manchester United are said to be in talks over a proven Premier League winger as they look to bolster their attack this summer. The Red Devils are expected to be among the Premier League's big spenders this summer as they look to give Michael Carrick the chance to build on the relative success of the season just gone.
The midfield is a clear priority for Carrick this summer, especially with Casemiro having left, but signings in other areas are also being worked on. The latest, according to one report, is a Premier League striker looking to be saved from Championship football.
United work on Summerville deal
Crysencio Summerville
According to TEAMtalk, United have begun the process of trying to sign Crysencio Summerville from West Ham this summer. The winger has impressed with the Hammers since his big-money move from Leeds United, although he did struggle with a couple of different muscular injuries, including a serious hamstring injury that cost him the best part of a year.
Still, the Dutchman managed seven goals and five assists for a West Ham team that was relegated this season, and it's clear he does not belong in the Championship.
Summerville has had a knack of scoring against big clubs, notably scoring the winner for Leeds United at Anfield to defeat back in 2022. He has since scored against Chelsea, Tottenham and United for West Ham.
In March, former Premier League striker Troy Deeney said of the winger: "It feels like week after week we are talking about this guy. He has been fantastic for West Ham, cutting in on his right foot and scoring goals.”
Summerville attracting interest

Summerville is also said to be of interest to Tottenham, who signed another West Ham winger in Mohammed Kudus last summer. AC Milan and AS Roma have also been linked with the winger, who the Hammers are said to value at around £50million, given he is under contract until 2029.
But with West Ham having been relegated, clubs will likely believe they can force that fee down. Not only will there be a need for the Hammers to commission sales this summer, but Summerville is also likely to request an exit, and any time a player asks to leave, the fee usually comes down, given the reduction in leverage for the selling club.
United have had success in signing proven Premier League players over the last year or so, and they will be hoping to repeat it with Summerville should they press ahead with a deal. However, any deal is likely to take some time, with Summerville currently at the World Cup with the Netherlands, and he has already found the net, scoring in an opening game draw with Japan.
