Former Manchester United forward Bebe is set to become a free agent after confirming the end of his current contract.
Bebe became infamous as one of Sir Alex Ferguson‘s most bizarre signings in 2010, in an unexpected £7.4 million deal.
He only played seven times for United and struggled to meet the required standard, although he did score twice.
Bebe left Manchester United in 2014 to sign with Benfica. For the past decade he has been playing in Spain.
For the past 18 months he has been playing for UD Ibiza, where he scored 10 goals and provided 10 assists in 53 appearances.
He has now confirmed that his contract has expired. Writing a message on Instagram he gave his thanks to the club and the staff.
“Beautiful island, thank you so much for every moment, for the love and support, and for everything you’ve given me during this season and a half.
“It’s been a period full of learning, surrounded by incredible people and teammates I’ll always cherish. Thanks also to the wonderful fans who made me feel their support and affection from day one.”

Bebe not playing for Cape Verde at World Cup
Bebe was a under-21 international for Portugal before switching allegiance to Cape Verde in 2022.
He represented the nation at AFCON while earning 27 caps in total, scoring six goals.
But he was not selected for the country’s first ever appearance at the World Cup, and recently admitted to feeling the disappointment.
Speaking to AS, Bebe admitted: “It hurts not to have gone. I think I could have contributed experience in addition to my qualities on the field, but I have no choice but to accept it and support my teammates.
“The coach already knows that I still want the best for them and that I will always be available when he calls me.”
Bebe’s warning to Spain
Speaking ahead of his country’s shock 0-0 draw with Spain, Bebe actually issued a warning not to write his nation off.
“Spain shouldn’t underestimate Cape Verde. Everyone thinks we’re just going there as spectators and that we’ll be going home early, but I know what my teammates are capable of. They have quality, ambition, energy, and enthusiasm.”
Cape Verde are next in action against Uruguay, before taking on Saudi Arabia.
