Victor Munoz has become the first signing of the Andoni Iraola era at Liverpool as the Reds pounced early in the summer transfer window.

The Spain international joins England's most successful football club, subject to a work permit, from Osasuna after the Premier League giants hijacked Newcastle United's move for the player and triggered his release clause, which stood just shy of £35m.

Liverpool will also learn their Premier League fixture list on Friday, bringing their strategy into sharp focus as sporting director Richard Hughes is said to have also launched a transfer bid for another winger, currently wowing at the World Cup. Here's all the latest news from Anfield.

Munoz confirmed

In a statement released on Thursday night, Liverpool said: "Liverpool FC have agreed a deal to sign Victor Munoz from Osasuna, subject to a successful work permit application and international clearance.

"The forward, who is currently on World Cup duty with Spain, completed a medical at the country’s base in Tennessee in the USA and has put pen to paper on a long-term contract.

"Munoz is the first new addition since the arrival of head coach Andoni Iraola and will link up with his new team-mates later this summer after his participation in the tournament with his national team has concluded.

"The 22-year-old has two caps for Spain and marked his debut against Serbia in March with a goal. The international recognition came after an outstanding season with Osasuna in which he made 34 appearances, scoring seven times and claiming five assists in all competitions.

"Munoz moved to Los Rojillos last summer from Real Madrid, for whom he made four appearances after graduating from their youth set-up having previously been with the academy of his hometown club, FC Barcelona.

"The attacker is set to be involved in Spain’s second World Cup group-stage game on Sunday when they take on Saudi Arabia in Atlanta.

"Munoz is the second addition to the Reds’ playing squad ahead of 2026-27, after a deal was agreed for the acquisition of Jeremy Jacquet earlier this year."

According to reports in Spain, Liverpool's signing of Osasuna star Victor Munoz features a sell-on clause.

However, it doesn't concern the Pamplona outfit but rather Real Madrid, reports the Mirror. Los Blancos reportedly received around £4.3m from Osasuna for 50% of Munoz's rights in 2025, with Madrid retaining a buy-back clause.

Liverpool are said to have approached Jose Mourinho's team to ensure they didn't exercise the clause to reacquire the forward.

Liverpool are believed to be allowing Real Madrid to keep an unspecified buy-back clause, which they could activate in 2027. The fee paid for the young player will be divided between the two Spanish clubs.

Liverpool are prepared to make Yan Diomande one of their most expensive ever signings - with a £87m package offered for the RB Leipzig sensation.

The Liverpool Echo has all the lowdown on the deal. During a frantic day of transfer business on Thursday, it emerged a bid has been officially turned down by the Bundesliga side.

Liverpool have been in discussions with Leipzig for several weeks regarding Diomande but talks were intensified with the proposal. Sources in Germany suggest Liverpool's bid was formal and dismissed.

Leipzig are battling to hold onto the explosive 19-year-old winger and want him to pen fresh terms that would probably include a release clause. A price tag of £112m is being demanded if they are to reluctantly sell.

The Bundesliga outfit have a strong rapport with the Reds, thanks to past agreements for Naby Keita, Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Brighton & Hove Albion's Yankuba Minteh, Said El Mala of Koln, and Lille's Matias Fernandez-Pardo are three alternative targets.

But the Reds want Diomande, who netted 12 goals and provided nine assists in 33 Bundesliga matches last year.
