Victor Munoz has been spotted with a Liverpool shirt ahead of linking up with his new club after Spain’s World Cup is over
The 22-year-old Spanish winger completed his move from Osasuna after Liverpool triggered his €40 million (£34.6m) release clause, with the deal set to be paid in two instalments.
Munoz underwent his medical at Spain’s World Cup training base in Tennessee, with the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) granting special clearance to allow the transfer to be completed while he remains on international duty.
Newcastle United believed they had the deal all but done. The Magpies had a fee agreed and personal terms in place, before Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes swooped in at the last moment to hijack the move. Munoz has now signed a six-year contract at Anfield, tying him to the club until June 2032.
A product of both Barcelona and Real Madrid’s academies, Munoz enjoyed a decent debut season at Osasuna in 2025/26, scoring six goals and registering five assists across all competitions. P
Predominantly a left winger, the right-footed forward can also operate on the right and through the centre.
Meanwhile, Liverpool FC officially confirmed the deal on Thursday night, putting out a statement that read:
“Liverpool FC have agreed a deal to sign Victor Munoz from Osasuna, subject to a successful work permit application and international clearance.
“The forward, who is currently on World Cup duty with Spain, completed a medical at the country’s base in Tennessee in the USA and has put pen to paper on a long-term contract.
“Munoz is the first new addition since the arrival of head coach Andoni Iraola and will link up with his new teammates later this summer after his participation in the tournament with his national team has concluded.”
