**Liverpool’s first season under Andoni Iraola will begin on the road.**
Friday’s release of the Premier League campaign fixtures saw the Anfield club handed an opening weekend trip to Newcastle United on Sunday, August 23.
The St James’ Park showdown will come just weeks after Iraola’s side trumped their hosts to the [now confirmed signing of Spain international Victor Munoz](https://www.clickliverpool.com/sport/liverpool-fc/65987-liverpool-hijack-second-newcastle-transfer-deal-victor-munoz/).
That will be followed by Iroala’s first competitive bow in front of home supporters on the following weekend against Nottingham Forest in a 3pm start on August 29.
The season’s first Merseyside derby takes place at Hill Dickinson Stadium on November 28 before Anfield hosts the return leg on January 30, 2027.
Christmas sees the Reds host Tottenham on December 19 before back-to-back away games at newcomers Hull CIty on Boxing Day and Aston Villa on December 30.
A new calendar year will begin on home soil as Frank Lampard’s Coventry City make their first trip to the red half of Merseyside in 25 years on January 2.
Liverpool will round off their upcoming campaign at Anfield against Iraola’s most recent employers Bournemouth on the season’s final day of May 30.
