Manchester United will kick off their 2026-27 Premier League season away at newly-promoted Hull City. United finished last season on a high under Michael Carrick and will hope to continue their momentum when they face the Championship play-off winners in the 12.30pm kick-off on Saturday, August 22.
The Red Devils finished third last term, the best of the rest after Arsenal and Manchester City, but their impressive form post-Christmas came with an asterisk in the eyes of some. Their minimalist fixture list and new manager bounce were cited as reasons for their upturn in results.
United have lost their Premier League opener in two of the last four seasons - going down to Brighton in 2022 and Arsenal last term. A fast start will be crucial if they want to build on the momentum they established last term and they therefore may be pleased to face Hull and Ipswich in the first two matches.
No doubt bolstered by new faces, with the club set to attack the market again to give Carrick the players he needs to fight across several fronts, United have spoken about a desire to challenge for the league title, not just the Champions League places. As a result clashes with Arsenal, City and potentially Liverpool will all be key - with United beating all three of them last season.
The first Manchester Derby of the campaign comes just four games in at Old Trafford on September 12, while a trip to Elland Road to play Leeds is on October 17 and to Anfield to play Liverpool is on November 21.
