Coventry City boss Frank Lampard will face his former club Chelsea twice in the upcoming Premier League season, and the dates of both games have now been confirmed. With the top-flight fixtures released, the Sky Blues will face Chelsea on Boxing Day and again on March 3.
After an exceptional Championship-winning campaign, Coventry are a Premier League club once again with Lampard at the helm. He took over in 2024 and was just named LMA Manager of the Year, beating Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola to the award.
Lampard is a Chelsea legend who lit up Stamford Bridge from 2001 to 2014 whilst bagging a record-breaking 211 goals. It was in west London where he began his coaching journey with Chelsea's academy, before his first senior managerial role with Derby County.
With Derby, he impressed to such a degree that he was named Chelsea's first-team boss in 2019. He lasted just 18 months before being sacked and a stint with Everton followed.

However, in 2023, he returned to Chelsea as caretaker manager and produced one of the statistically worst tenures in top-flight history. He lost his first six games in charge, the first-ever Blues boss to do so, and was let go with a nine per cent win rate.

This was a year and a half before Coventry hired him and the Blues icon is now preparing for another season as a Premier League manager, during which he will face Chelsea twice.
With the fixture schedule released, Lampard's first clash against his former club takes place on Boxing Day at the Coventry Building Society Arena. His team will then face the Blues at Stamford Bridge on March 3.
During the celebrations for Coventry's promotion from the Championship, Lampard admitted that the city must remain a special place if they are to cope in the Premier League.
Lampard said: "It needs to remain a special place because it's been an incredibly supported club in the city, the tradition and history. There wasn't that feeling when I came in, and I know Mark [Robins] had done incredible work as a manager here, because of a lack of confidence and connection at the club.
"But we built that in the second half of last season to where it's a serious football club in this league, and you have to do that if you haven't been a Premier League team recently to go up. To be 12 points clear is amazing."
Businessman Doug King became the club's sole owner in 2023, and he described the prospect of becoming a Premier League side as "surreal."

King added, speaking to Sky Sports: "The fans have been starved of it for a long time and you can feel it. Twenty-five years is a huge amount of time.
"If you don't bounce back you feel like it's never going to happen. Getting out of this league is very difficult and we did it. We got the whole city together. I'm super proud of everybody. They've had the whole season in front and it's not easy being a front-runner."
