Coventry City chairman and owner Doug King says the entire club is excited to mark their return to the Premier League with a “champions against champions” clash with Arsenal.
Frank Lampard’s side will face the reigning Premier League holders at the Emirates Stadium in their first match of the new season, it was confirmed on Thursday.
It will be the Premier League curtain-raiser in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Friday, August 21 in an 8pm kick-off.
The Sky Blues will also face Manchester City away in their third match of the campaign which hammers home the challenge facing the club after winning the Championship title last season.
Speaking on Sky Sports, King said: "What can you say? I thought it’d be a big one.
“Champions against champions - what a way to start it! I think everybody’s excited.
“There was a little bit of nervous tension around, it went quiet afterwards, but we’ve got to play everybody twice and we’re excited to start it at the home of Arsenal.
Thousands of fans upgraded their Premier League matchday last season. This is how they did it.

“We had a great home support in the Championship-winning season and I think we’ll need it even more in the Premier League."
