Victor Munoz was unveiled as Liverpool’s first signing of the Andoni Iraola era on Thursday, but the winger is now facing a new injury setback with Spain.
Munoz is currently on duty with Spain at the World Cup, going unused in the opening 0-0 draw with Cape Verde due to a fitness concern.
But he had returned to training earlier this week, while talks were ongoing over the £34.5 million move to Liverpool which was confirmed on Thursday evening.
However, the Spanish FA revealed soon after that Munoz had suffered a setback in his recovery and was considered a doubt for their upcoming games.
No timeframe has been placed on the 22-year-old’s recovery but it is described as a muscle injury, which will need to be evaluated before any further update is given.

Spanish outlet Cadena SER report that Munoz is expected to miss the group stage and may only return if Spain reach the knockouts.
Reporter Ricky Dias describes it as the “worst possible time” for this blow, not only for the player himself but also for his country, with fellow wingers Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams also suffering recently.
Spain will play Saudi Arabia in their second game of Group H on Sunday, before facing Uruguay in a potentially decisive tie next Saturday.
Munoz has signed a six-year contract with Liverpool after the £34.5 million release clause in his contract at Osasuna was triggered on Wednesday.
The young forward took to Instagram following the completion of his switch to Anfield to reflect on his season with Osasuna.
“From the very first day, I felt identified with this badge, this shirt, and the values it represents,” he wrote.
“I have always tried to give back on the pitch all the affection I have received, giving everything I had in every training session and every match.
“I have enjoyed every moment at El Sadar. Those magical afternoons and nights, the atmosphere, the unconditional support of the fans, and everything we have shared are memories that I will always keep in my heart.”
