FC Barcelona have made the signing of a new centre-forward their utmost priority at the moment, with Julian Alvarez remaining their main target.
At the same time, though, Deco & co. have not lost of their other objectives, one of which happens to be reinforcing the centre-back position.
As reported earlier today, Tottenham and Netherlands defender Micky van de Ven has now emerged as a key target for the Catalans, while Liverpool are also keeping an eye on him.
Van de Ven not for sale
However, according to Fabrizio Romano, as things stand, any move for Van de Ven from Barcelona or Liverpool is ruled out as Tottenham are not considering his departure this summer.

The Dutch centre-back is a key player for the north London outfit and manager Roberto De Zerbi sees him as an integral part of his plans for the future.
The player, for his part, is also settled at the club, and therefore, there is no plan for his departure this summer, despite the reported interest from Barcelona and Liverpool.
Potentially a good addition for Barcelona
Barcelona’s interest in Van de Ven makes sense a lot of sense, considering the qualities he brings to the table.
A left-footed centre-back comfortable with the ball at his feet and a physical presence along with good ground speed, the Dutch international ticks a lot of boxes for Hansi Flick and Barcelona.
Given that he is only 25 years old, he would represent a long-term addition to the club, making him a very enticing target for the La Liga champions.

However, as things stand, there is little to no indication that a move will be possible, given that Tottenham have no intention of parting ways with Van de Ven.
Having survived the threat of relegation from the Premier League, Spurs have come all guns blazing in the market, already reinforcing the squad with multiple new signings.
Given the ambition they are showing, it seems highly improbable that they would let Van de Ven leave unless Barcelona come up with an irresistible offer – something that is unlikely for now.
