Manchester United continue to be recognised for the impact of their women’s team, with several former players going on to achieve major success at the highest level of the game.

The club’s influence in developing elite talent has been evident in both domestic and international football, particularly through players who have gone on to become household names.

As the women’s game continues to grow, United’s former stars remain prominent across Europe’s top leagues and international competitions.

One of those standout figures is now set for a fresh challenge back in England after a successful spell abroad.

Mary Earps joins London City Lionesses

Mary Earps has joined London City Lionesses on a two-year deal following the expiry of her contract at Paris Saint-Germain, as the club announced on their website.

The 33-year-old leaves France after two seasons in the capital, having made 22 appearances in the Premiere Ligue during her final campaign.

She ended her PSG stint with 12 clean sheets, helping the club finish third in the table, 13 points behind champions Lyon.

Mary Earps arrives back in English football with an elite reputation built over years at the top of the women’s game, both domestically and internationally.

On joining the club, Earps said, “I’m over the moon, I’m really looking forward to it.

“I think the club speaks to exactly what I stand for, I can’t wait to join and get down to business. This is the first day of the next chapter.

“The club’s values represent what I want to represent, and they are passionate about what I want to achieve and change the game in a positive way.

“All the conversations have been really positive and every time I spoke with the club, I wanted to hear more.

“The vision and ambition, including the new training facility is incredible and I’m looking forward to seeing that develop, it shows what our owner Michele (Kang) and everyone at the club want to do in terms of really going for it. I think there is something really special here.

“It’s about putting a marker down and saying we want to be competitive in a short space of time.

“I’m looking forward to working alongside Elene (Lete) and the goalkeeping unit.

“Elene made some great saves and interventions last season. Hopefully we can bounce off each other and work hard and enjoy it.”

A two-time FIFA Best Goalkeeper of the Year winner, she played a pivotal role in England’s Euro 2022 triumph and their run to the 2023 World Cup final.

Her time at Manchester United remains a defining chapter in her career, spending five years at the club and making over 100 appearances while becoming a key figure in their development.

During her spell at Old Trafford, she helped United win their first major trophy in 2024, lifting the Women’s FA Cup in a historic achievement for the club.

London City Lionesses, backed by American businesswoman Michele Kang, are continuing to build ambitiously after finishing sixth in their first WSL season in 2025-26.

Earps now becomes a marquee addition as the club look to strengthen their squad and push further up the table next season.
