Pompey rivals agree £1.5m swoop as West Ham line-up Chelsea defender

The latest transfer headlines involving Pompey’s Championship rivals.

Clamour is growing amongst the Fratton faithful as the wait for Pompey’s first summer arrival goes on.

Business is expected to heat up, though, as the window progresses as John Mousinho primes his squad for the new Championship campaign.

The 30-year-old has amassed 196 appearances in all competitions since his 2021 arrival so far, with his five-year stay set to be extended until 2028.

Elsewhere, gossip and speculation is ramping up in the Championship as clubs continue their summer spending.

Here are the latest transfer headlines involving Pompey’s second-tier rivals.

Norwich City agree £3m deal

It’s already been a busy opening week in the transfer window at Carrow Road as Phillipe Clement kick-starts his first summer in charge of Norwich City.

Indeed, the Norfolk outfit, who finished ninth in the Championship last term, have reportedly agreed a deal for QPR midfielder Sam Field.

It is believed Norwich are set to spend £1.5m to land the playmaker, with promotion bonuses potentially seeing the figure rise to £2.8m.

Field spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Carrow Road, impressing in 15 outings following his deadline day arrival during the January window.

The former West Brom and Charlton Athletic man collected one assist during that time as he added much-needed support to Clement’s engine room.

The former England youth international was, though, an unused substitute during Norwich’s 1-1 draw with Pompey on Good Friday.

West Ham are reportedly lining up a permanent move for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi, according to reports.

The Frenchman spent the campaign on loan at the London Stadium, featuring 14 times as the Hammers suffered Premier League relegation on the final day.

It is believed Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have to offset £150m this summer as a consequence of their Championship return, with a busy summer expected both in terms of incomings and outgoings in east London.

However, Sports Boom have reported Disasi is a number on West Ham’s transfer radar as they prepare for life back in the second tier.

The report suggests the Hammers are looking at a number of defensive options during the window, with the 28-year-old’s situation at Stamford Bridge alerting them.

The France international still has three years to run on his current Chelsea terms and played the final 90 minutes in all of his 14 outings for Espirito Santo’s side following his January signing.
