Bournemouth are working to agree a new contract with Alex Scott amid interest from Arsenal and Manchester United.
That’s according to Laurie Whitwell (via Stretford Paddock), who adds that the Cherries want to add a £75 million release clause to the youngster’s terms.
What’s Whitwell hearing about Scott?
Arsenal have also just entered the race this week, which may prompt United to spring into action and open talks with Scott.
Whitwell said of the situation: “It’s a little bit of a development, but Arsenal are interested in him. That might be a rival for United if they want to progress with the Scott situation.
“Bournemouth are trying to get him to sign a new contract and put a release clause in there for £75m.
“That’s more than clubs would be willing to pay with two years left on his deal.”

Will Scott be pushing for a move during the transfer window?
Scott has yet to give any indication that he’d want to be on the move this summer.
While a switch to a big-six club may tempt him, he’ll know that continuing at the Vitality Stadium, even if just for another season, could do wonders for his development, as he is guaranteed a consistent starting role.

Scott’s league record with the Cherries in 25/26
What’s more, Bournemouth made history last month by qualifying for European football for the first time, and will be playing in the Europa League in 2026/2027.
Having played such an influential role in achieving the feat, the 22-year-old may want to stick around to experience it with the fans and see how far the Dorset outfit can progress in the competition.
Scott joins shortlist of young Premier League counterparts
As for United’s potential pursuit, they have seemingly turned their attention to Premier League-proven midfielders after wrapping up a £39m agreement for Atalanta’s Ederson.
INEOS are now resigned to missing out on Elliot Anderson due to Manchester City being frontrunners, but remain firmly in the mix for the likes of Mateus Fernandes and Carlos Baleba.
Scott, who won the U21 Euros with England last year, poses as another young candidate with ample experience who could reinforce Michael Carrick’s ranks.
