Barcelona will finalise second summer signing before 30th June deadline

It has been a few weeks since Barcelona signed Anthony Gordon, but there are now set to add their second new player to Hansi Flick’s squad. Sporting director Deco has been working on various deals ahead of the summer transfer window opening on the 1st of July, with one of those being for Jorge Salinas.

Racing Santander defender Salinas is a player that has been on Barcelona’s radar for much of the last 12 months. He was a standout performer during the 2025-26 season as the Cantabrians sealed their long-awaited return to La Liga, but they have now suffered a big blow just before the transfer window opens for business.

It was reported this week that Barcelona have been leading the race to sign Salinas, and now, Sport say that a deal will be done before the end of the month. The 19-year-old has agreed terms with the La Liga champions, whom he has opted to join over a whole host of other clubs that has been chasing his signature.

Barcelona ready to activate Salinas’ release clause

Until the end of the month, Salinas’ release clause is valued at €8m. This will increase to €16m come July, which is why Barcelona are planning to get a deal wrapped up before the end of the month. They hope to reduce the cost by offering Racing the chance to sign one of their youth players on loan, but if that fails, they are prepared to just pay the €8m.

Salinas will have a place in Flick’s first team squad next season, which is one of the reasons why he has chosen Barcelona as his next club. A deal should be wrapped up in the next 11 days, and once it is, attention can turn back towards the Catalans’ efforts to sign a Robert Lewandowski replacement.
