Borussia Dortmund defender Waldemar Anton says he is honoured that the likes of Man United are interested in signing him.
Several reports have linked the Red Devils with the German international, and asked about the rumours by Sport1 (quotes via Ruhr24), Anton said:

“Such reports are part of the transfer window; this does not only affect me. Of course, this honours a player when you are associated with big clubs from abroad. But in the end, it’s speculation.”
Anton is currently with Germany’s national team at the World Cup. He came on for the final 10 minutes of their opening group win over Curacao.
He would have been a better fit for Man Utd under Amorim
The 29-year-old can be deployed both as a centre-half and right-back. He has been playing part of a back three for Dortmund under head coach Niko Kovac this campaign.
It is more than likely that Anton was considered a target when head coach Ruben Amorim was in charge.
With manager Michael Carrick now in the dugout, you wouldn’t expect the Red Devils to make a move for the German this summer or in any future transfer window.

Are United considering alternatives to Anton?
There have been suggestions that the club’s recruitment team like Bayern Munich’s Kim Min-jae, while scouts have been keeping tabs on the likes of Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven and Nottingham Forest’s Murillo.
However, it is believed that the bulk of this summer’s transfer budget will be devoted to strengthening the midfield and reinforcing two other positions – left-back and left-wing.
Carrick has five centre-backs at his disposal currently – including Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven.
