Crysencio Summerville won't be able to take his dream squad number if he moves from West Ham to Manchester United this summer. The Dutch international winger has been linked with an Old Trafford switch after suffering relegation, with a £50million fee mooted, though the Hammers are in no hurry to sell a player also being eyed by Roma.
Summerville wears the number seven shirt at the London Stadium, having taken it when he joined from Leeds in 2024 and previous holder James Ward-Prowse left the Hammers on loan the same summer. However, the number is already taken at Old Trafford.
Mason Mount is the holder, having taken the number in 2023. Before that, it was occupied by Cristiano Ronaldo until the forward's second departure midway through the 2022/23 season.

Similarly to Summerville, Ederson is unlikely to be allowed the welcome gift of his preferred number when he joins from Atalanta. Ederson's No.13 is currently held by Patrick Dorgu, while another target - Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali - is unlikely to be able to wrest the No.8 from Bruno Fernandes.
There are other squad number options for Summerville. The No.24 he is wearing for the Netherlands at the World Cup currently belongs to Andre Onana but the goalkeeper has been tipped to seal a permanent exit this summer.

The No.10 he wore in his final Leeds season is currently occupied by Matheus Cunha and unlikely to find its way into new hands. He could take the No.38 he wore in his first two years at Elland Road if current incumbent Jack Fletcher opts for a change.
Other options include No.12, which is vacant after Tyrell Malacia's exit, while Casemiro's old No.18 could become available after the Brazilian's exit. The No.9 shirt also remained free last season after Rasmus Hojlund's exit but it remains to be seen whether another player opts to take it before a deal for Summerville can be completed.
Summerville is one of a number of West Ham players linked with an Old Trafford switch following the London side's relegation. The Dutch winger impressed in the second half of last season as the Hammers came close to pulling themselves out of danger and scored on his World Cup debut against Japan.
Elsewhere, midfielder Mateus Fernandes is also in high demand - though. an asking price of £80m could end up deterring suitors. There have also been reports concerning Jarrod Bowen and El-Hadji Malick Diouf as Nuno Espirito Santo's side learn who is prepared to stay and fight for promotion from the Championship.
