The Seattle Seahawks had a magical 2025 season, dominantly winning the Super Bowl with an elite defense, Sam Darnold at quarterback, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba breaking out in a major way.
Following the 2025 season, it's fair to wonder whether the breakout year from JSN is real or not. He's been a solid WR in his career, but his 2025 season was a massive leap forward, and could be just a blip in his career.
However, for ESPN analyst Ben Solak, Smith-Njigba's breakout 2025 season is for real, as he made the exciting prediction that the Seahawks WR will continue to be one of the best in the NFL, stating, "He's perfect."
ESPN analyst calls Jaxon Smith-Njigba 'perfect' after breakout year
"It's almost inevitable that JSN's numbers will take a dip as defenses focus more attention on him and dare just about anyone else to beat them," Solak writes. "... But even if the production does dip, I struggle to find any sound argument that Smith-Njigba will vanish back into the third tier of NFL receivers after the season we just saw."
The NFL is hard, and it's going to be very difficult for JSN to match the 119 receptions for 1,793 yards and 10 touchdowns he had last season.
Most likely, he'll put up fewer yards in 2026, as teams around the NFL focus their attention on stopping him after his Offensive Player of the Year honor this past season.

But, even if Smith-Njigba takes a step back, Solak believes that the 2025 breakout is a trend and that the Seahawks receiver is going to stay great.
It would be understandable for fans to have some reservations with JSN after such an incredible season seemingly out of nowhere. But this prediction from Solak is a very exciting one that should dispel the worries of Seahawks fans.
Smith-Njigba's ascension was sudden, and it's reasonable to worry about how he looks moving forward. But this breakout isn't a blip on the radar.
This is something that's going to last a long time, as Seahawks fans will get to watch one of the best receivers in the NFL suit up for many years to come.
