Liverpool Premier League fixtures: Start and run-in for the 2026/27 season

Liverpool enter a new era under head coach Andoni Iraola in 2026/27.

Arne Slot looked like a man ready to enjoy life over the long term at Anfield when Liverpool swept to Premier League glory in 2024/25, but a lacklustre limp to fifth place last time around cost the Dutch tactician his job.

Iraola has built a fine reputation over the course of his stints with Rayo Vallecano and Bournemouth, but this obviously represents a huge step-up in his career.

Liverpool are also moving on from all-time great Mohamed Salah, who departed at the end of last season, and there will be renewed pressure on Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz to justify their weighty price tags.

Here, we break down Liverpool's start to the campaign and the season run-in, along with some of their standout fixtures of the year to come.

Liverpool 2026/27 Premier League fixtures: First five matches

Liverpool begin the season on Sunday, August 23, at Newcastle. The recent transfer history between the two sides is sure to once again provide a spicy backdrop.

Home games against Nottingham Forest and Fulham, either side of a game at newly promoted Ipswich Town, should represent an opportunity to get points on the board.

Iraola will have an early reunion with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on September 19.

After the final international break of the season, Liverpool face their return fixture against Newcastle on April 10 before travelling to Nottingham Forest.

Trips to Leeds on April 24 and Manchester City on May 8 sandwich a home game against Chelsea and could represent a tricky period.

Liverpool wrap up at home to Bournemouth on May 30. In a best-case scenario, Iraola might get a guard of honour from his former employers.

When is Liverpool vs. Man United?

Liverpool vs. Manchester United is the most historically decorated rivalry in English football, with both clubs top of the all-time standings with 20 league titles apiece.

Michael Carrick's side visit Merseyside on November 21 before the Reds head to Old Trafford on January 23.

We are now fully out of the Klopp vs. Guardiola era, but Manchester City's trip to Anfield - where they won in front of a crowd for the first time since 2003 last season - on October 10 will be keenly anticipated.

Liverpool and Arsenal have split the past two Premier League titles. The Gunners head to Anfield on October 31 and Iraola's side head to north London on February 6.
