Former Chelsea defender William Gallas has suggested that Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen could be an ideal signing for Xabi Alonso as speculation continues over potential attacking reinforcements at Chelsea.
Gallas’ comments come amid renewed discussion over CHELSEA’s forward options ahead of the summer transfer window, with the club once again expected to be active in reshaping its attacking unit following a season of inconsistent goal output and ongoing uncertainty over squad planning.
Osimhen, who has established himself as one of Europe’s most prolific centre-forwards in recent seasons, remains a high-profile name in the transfer market.
The Nigeria international is widely regarded for his pace, physical presence, aerial strength and clinical finishing, attributes that have made him a target for several elite clubs across Europe.
Currently contracted to Galatasaray following a high-profile move from Napoli, Osimhen continues to attract attention despite his recent switch to Turkish football. His performances have reinforced his reputation as a forward capable of leading the line at the highest level, with scouts regularly monitoring his progress.
Gallas believes Osimhen’s profile would align strongly with the tactical demands of a team potentially led by Alonso, who has built his managerial reputation on structured attacking play, intensity without possession and rapid transitions.
Asked who Chelsea should target instead, Gallas replied: ‘My pick is Victor Osimhen. I still wonder why he didn’t come to Chelsea or the Premier League.
‘He has a great profile for it. We are still waiting for him, he would be a great choice and have a huge impact.’
CHELSEA’s recruitment strategy has focused heavily on younger talent and long-term planning in recent windows, but the club has also been linked with more established forwards as it seeks to solve its inconsistency in front of goal. The need for a reliable striker has remained a recurring theme in transfer discussions surrounding Stamford Bridge.
Alonso, who has been widely linked with several top managerial roles in Europe, is seen as a coach capable of elevating attacking players through clear tactical structure and high demands on intensity.
His potential influence has fuelled further speculation over the type of striker Chelsea could prioritise if a managerial change occurs or a new project is formally established.
However, any pursuit of Osimhen would likely be complicated by his contract situation, valuation and the level of competition from other top clubs. Galatasaray are also understood to be keen to retain the striker following his arrival.
