The Denver Broncos handed out two new contracts on Thursday following the most recent tryouts that were held at the team's minicamp. Always looking for additional depth to shore up the back end of the roster, general manager George Paton brought in a new offensive lineman and a new defensive back.
Reid Holskey is a 6-foot-6, 302-pound offensive lineman who projects best as a guard at the professional level. He played in 51 games during his college career at Miami of Ohio and had brief stints with the Baltimore Ravens and New York Giants last year after going undrafted.
To make room for him on the 90-man roster, the Broncos waived offensive lineman Nash Jones.
Jones signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Texas State last spring. He failed to make their roster and was added to the Broncos' practice squad in December. The team signed him to a future contract this offseason, but he faced long odds of making the team.
On the defensive side of the ball, former Utah cornerback Blake Cotton won a spot on the team with his tryout performance. Cotton played at UC Davis in college before finishing his career with the Utes, where he appeared in 13 games last season.
At 6-foot-2, Cotton is a tall corner who, at least at this stage of the offseason, the team sees more potential in than Ahmari Harvey, who was waived. Harvey signed with the Broncos in April after going undrafted, but he won't make it to training camp. He becomes the third undrafted cornerback the Broncos have signed this offseason and then later waived, joining William Wright and Paul Manning.

Holskey and Cotton will now look to settle in before training camp opens in just over one month, where they will have a chance to further impress the coaching staff in order to make the 53-man roster or be added to the team's practice squad ahead of the season.
