After Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah left the club this summer it was always going to be a momentous task to replace the Egyptian star, but Yan Diomande appears to be the headline act to fill the gaping hole.
It was clear last season that the Reds lacked pace around the middle and know if Andoni Iraola’s playing side is to be fully implemented pacey wide players are a must.
The World Cup hasn’t slowed Liverpool’s transfer business down with a medical team completely Victor Munoz’s medical stateside ahead of his €40M move from Osasuna. The winger is battling an injury as he aims to make a mark on the tournament.
Yan Diomande pursuit
It has been widely reported that both Liverpool and PSG are interested in Ivory Coast star Yan Diomande.
Liverpool reportedly tabled an offer of close to €100M for the Leipzig star in the last 24 hours. The bid was not accepted but negotiations continue. The talks are been described as “pleasant”.
Yan Diomande is just the type of player new Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola needs as he aims to reintroduce high pressing, fast paced attacks back to Anfield.
We can reveal that Liverpool is planning a new improved offer of around €115M for the 19-year-old.
Bundesliga side RB Leipzig signed him from Spanish side CD Leganés for just €20M last summer. It will be an extraordinary piece of business from the German side who are expected to make a profit close to €100M.
Diomande is represented by Jay-Z’s Rocnation Sports and it is believed a contract of close to £180,000 per week could be negotiated for the star.
Liverpool obviously have received positive feedback from the players side as the Reds are unlikely to bid blind for the World Cup star.
The Ivorian actually namechecked Florian Wirtz during his preview of Ivory Coast’s Group E clash against Germany this weekend, saying:
“Germany is a very strong team; they never give up and fight until the end.”
“Add to that their individual quality. That makes them very strong. Florian Wirtz, for example, is a very creative player who finds solutions in the final third, even in tight spaces. Players like that can change a game with a single action.”
It’s certainly a very interesting bit from Diomande to say the least, as he will know these kinds of quotes do the rounds on social media.
