Dak Prescott Makes Bold Playoff Promise to New Cowboys DT Quinnen Williams

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is considered one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. He is always among the best quarterbacks every season and has been putting up good numbers season after season.

He has not won anything significant yet with the Cowboys, and yet he is predicted to play a important part next season. He is so confident of it that he has made a bold statement as well.

Dak Prescott challenges Quinnen Williams to help deliver playoffs

Prescott recently responded to comments from new defensive tackle Quinnen Williams during the minicamp in Frisco, Texas, in June 2026. Williams was acquired by the Cowboys from the New York Jets on November 4, 2025, in a trade that sent defensive tackle Mazi Smith, a 2026 second-round pick, and a 2027 first-round pick to New York. He had limited action last season and recorded 2.5 sacks, and is expected to play a bigger role in the team’s defensive setup next season.

Williams recently reminded his teammates that he has played seven NFL seasons without appearing in the postseason. Hearing this, Precott said that he wants to take the Cowboys to the postseason, “But when we know we’re already improving on defense, that’s the minimum. It’s everybody’s goal in here. To hear Q say he’s never been to the playoffs, that’s what you want to do it for”.

He also asked the tackle’s help in achieving this feat, “And that’s where I told him, I said, ‘I’ll get you the playoffs, and we need you to go help us win it.”

The comments come at a time when there is much pressure on the Cowboys to finally deliver. The franchise last made a postseason appearance on January 14, 2024 against the Green Bay Packers. Their last Super Bowl win came 30 years ago in 1996, and fans are demanding better results this season.

Prescott also talked about missing the playoffs despite having a good offense. He admitted that it hurt to continuously miss the playoffs, saying, “You miss it for two years. Yeah, it sucks, definitely. But we’re pushing. That’s our goal. That’s a minimum.”

He added, “When you have a team like this, and they’ve done everything they have in the offseason, we just said, obviously, we’ve got to push and get better on offense.”

The Cowboys have recognized that their flaws lie in their defense and have worked to improve it under new defensive coordinator Christian Parker. There has been much hope that the defense will be much better next season. Dak Prescott and his teammates will have to focus on the 2026 NFL season to finally make it to the playoffs.
