Everton 25/26 Player Ratings: Dewsbury-Hall and Garner shine

In a season where the club were heading into their brand new stadium and having ended the season strongly with David Moyes returning as manager, the feeling amongst the fanbase was filled with excitement, something which was eroded in recent years.

For the majority of the season the Blues found themselves in the mix for European football with strong wins away at Manchester United, Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Newcastle which showcased the improvement under David Moyes.

However, Everton's poor home form which has been detrimental for numerous years has cost Everton the chance of achieving European football. Despite winning four of their opening eight at Hill Dickinson, (two draws, two defeats) Everton only won two more games at their new home.

David Moyes's side ultimately ended their campaign finishing 13th on 49 points in what was a poor end to the season as the Toffees went seven games without a win.

Goalkeepers and defence

Jordan Pickford - 7

It was another strong showing from Everton's number one as he showed his importance throughout. Pickford saved a penalty from Danny Welbeck in the club's opening game at Hill Dickinson.

Despite Everton not relying on him like they have done in recent years, the 32-year-old won Premier League Save of the Season for the second time in his career, as he managed to tip over Sandro Tonali's strike in the 3-2 victory against Newcastle.

Mark Travers - 5

Signed from Bournemouth in the summer, Travers featured in both League Cup games as Everton beat Mansfield 2-0 but lost the following round to Wolves.

Nathan Patterson - 6

The fullback only appeared eight times as the first half of the season Patterson struggled with injuries. The Scottish international was composed in away victories at Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa but struggled for minutes in the second-half of the season.

Seamus Coleman - 5

The 37-year-old spent most of the season on the bench and only started once which came in the 1-0 win at Old Trafford but was replaced after ten minutes due to injury.

Jake O'Brien - 6

O'Brien came into Everton's side in the back half of the 2024/25 season and excelled at right-back, however this season the 24-year-old has showed his limitations when played out of position.

The centre-back showed his worth in his natural position as Everton kept clean sheets in the victories over Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa.

Now entering his third season with the club, O'Brien will hope to get his opportunity to play at centre-back.

Jarrad Branthwaite - 5

Branthwaite only featured ten times this season in what was a season plagued with injuries. The 23-year-old missed the first-half of the season due to injuries but despite only appearing fleetingly, his importance shined through.

Branthwaite's pace and ability on the ball allows Everton to play higher up the pitch, after he suffered his season ending defeat against Liverpool, the Blues conceded 11 goals in their next five games.

James Tarkowski + Michael Keane - 6

Both were ever-present throughout the season and also both signed contract extensions. Tarkowski made the most blocks with 52 and won 235 duels but at times mistakes started creeping into his game.

The 33-year-old's passing ability is an underrated aspect to his game as he assisted Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's goal in the 4-1 defeat to Newcastle.

Michael Keane is similar to Tarkowski and has been Everton's most consistent centre-half this season. In the 1-0 victory over Manchester United where Everton played the majority of the game with ten men, both showed their resilience nature.

Erling Haaland's goal in the game at Hill Dickinson has shown that the two struggle in a pair and this upcoming season Everton should start to look beyond them.

Vitalii Mykolenko - 5.5

The Ukraine international has recently signed a contract extension and featured 36 times for Everton.

The 26-year-old only got one assist where he burst past his man and cut the ball back to Dewsbury-Hall in the 2-1 win over Fulham. Mykolenko was strong defensively but going forwards struggled to offer Everton anything.

Adam Aznou - 5

Signed last summer from Bayern Munich Aznou only appeared once for the Blues as he came on as a late substitute against Sunderland in the FA Cup 3rd round.

Aznou won Everton the penalty which sent the game to extra-time but was never seen again.

At the end of the season Garner won Everton Player of the Year, and Player's Player of the Year and signed a contract extension.

Tim Iroegbunam - 6.5

Now in his second season at the club, Iroegbunam featured over 30 times and improved throughout the season.

The midfielder was taken off at half-time in the 4-1 defeat to Newcastle but followed it up with a strong performance against Bournemouth.

Iroegbunam's strongest assets are his recovery tackles and his power when driving Everton up the pitch.

Idrissa Gana Gueye - 6

Gueye's importance was highlighted in Everton's run-in as he missed Everton's last four games of the season.

The midfielder only featured 25 times as he left midway through the season due to AFCON. The 36-year-old scored against Liverpool and Fulham and was sent-off against Manchester United due to slapping Michael Keane.

Gueye is out of contract in the summer.

Merlin Rohl - 6

Rohl's first season in English football had its ups and downs. Signed on Transfer Deadline Day, Rohl's first months at the club were troubled with injuries and acclimatising to the Premier League.

The 22-year-old saved his best football till the end of the season as he assisted Thierno Barry against Manchester City and scored his first goal in the defeat to Sunderland.

Rohl only featured 17 times and ended the season playing out of position on the right.

Harrison Armstrong - 5.5

Armstrong starred in the 2-0 victory over Mansfield where he assisted both goals and enjoyed a successful loan at Preston North End before being recalled as Everton started January slim on numbers.

The 19-year-old started in the wins against Aston Villa and Fulham before not appearing till the last game of the season against Tottenham. In total Armstrong made 15 appearances.

Charly Alcaraz - 5

The Argentine changed the game against Crystal Palace in October before featuring heavily over the festive period.

The second-half of the season Alcaraz struggled for minutes and often came on for late cameos.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall - 8

Signed from Chelsea last summer the all-action midfielder scored eight goals and registered four assists.

Forwards

Tyler Dibling - 3

The forward was sought after all summer for the Blues but Dibling's last appearance came in the 2-0 victory over Burnley in March in what was a one-minute cameo.

Dibling started back-to-back games in the Premier League against Burnley and Nottingham Forest where he impressed and looked bright when he came off the bench against Leeds United.

Tyrique George - 6

Similarly to Dibling, George hasn't been given many opportunities but has shown strong displays where he's used his pace and created key chances for Everton.

Everton do have an option to buy George permanently but only featured 11 times with the 20-year-old only starting once.

Jack Grealish - 7

Grealish started life at Everton with four assists in his first three games and excelled in the 3-2 victory away at Wolves as he showed great interchanging play with Dewsbury-Hall.

The Manchester City loanee scored his first goal for the club as Daniel Munoz's clearance ricocheted off Grealish to send Hill Dickinson into bedlam.

The winger also scored the winner down at the Vitality and his season ended after the victory at Villa Park due to injury.

Iliman Ndiaye - 6

The 26-year-old wrote his name into Everton's history as he scored the first goal at Hill Dickinson in the 2-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.

The winger showed his flair throughout with a stunning solo goal against Sunderland and a curling strike in the 3-0 victory over Chelsea.

After the AFCON, Ndiaye's form dipped off but still showed how he's Everton's dangerman.

Beto - 6.5

The first-half of the season Beto struggled to recapture the form of the 2024/25 season and lost his place to Barry.

However, Beto stood out in the 3-0 victory over Chelsea scoring twice and flicking the ball to the path of Ndiaye, who scored Everton's third.

Beto ended the season with ten goals in all competitions and scored the leveller against Liverpool.

Thierno Barry - 7

Signed from Villarreal last summer, the Frenchman initially struggled as he failed to score in his opening 17 games for the Blues.

Once Barry got his first goal for the club the pressure was off his shoulders and you could see the relief that he's finally broken his mark.

The 23-year-old scored four goals in five games including two clever finishes against Aston Villa and Leeds United.
