Marcus Rashford has emerged as an injury concern for England at the 2026 World Cup.

This was after the 28-year-old helped Thomas Tuchel’s side begin their campaign with a 4-2 victory over Croatia.

The Manchester United forward, who spent last season on loan at Barcelona before returning to Old Trafford this summer, was among the standout performers from the bench during England’s opening group-stage fixture.

Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo were both selected to represent England at this summer’s World Cup, with the latter recently signing a new contract following an impressive finish to the club season.

However, it is Rashford whose fitness is now attracting attention ahead of England’s next match.

According to a report from The Sun, Marcus Rashford is facing a race against time to be available for England’s clash against Ghana after suffering discomfort following the win over Croatia.

Rashford came off the bench during the second half and made an immediate impact, scoring England’s fourth goal as Tuchel’s men secured all three points.

Rashford misses practice game

The report states that Rashford later complained of tightness in his hamstring and glute area after the match.

As a result, he did not take part in a behind-closed-doors practice fixture involving England’s substitute players against Sporting Kansas City.

England’s fringe players went on to win the game 5-1, with Ivan Toney scoring a hat-trick, but Rashford was absent as medical staff monitored his condition.

Tuchel has since given the squad time off to spend with family members before preparations resume for Tuesday’s encounter with Ghana in Boston.

The England manager will be hoping the issue proves to be only a minor setback given Rashford’s encouraging display against Croatia.

His goal was his first for England in nine international appearances and continued what has been a positive start to the summer following his return to Manchester United.

Both England and Manchester United supporters will now await further updates on the attacker’s condition ahead of a crucial period for club and country.
