Andoni Iraola will be preparing for his first season as Liverpool head coach following his appointment as Arne Slot’s replacement earlier this month.
A key part of his plans will involve shaping the squad in the summer transfer window, with Liverpool reportedly monitoring Tottenham Hotspur defender Luka Vuskovic.
The 19-year-old featured for Croatia in their 4-2 defeat to England in their 2026 FIFA World Cup opener and is regarded as one of Europe’s top young defensive prospects. Brighton have already had a £30m bid rejected for him.
Vuskovic spent last season on loan in Germany with Hamburg and is expected to face increased competition for a place in Tottenham’s defence.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Brighton have now submitted a new official bid to Tottenham for Vuskovic, worth around £45m including add-ons.
Romano posted on X: “Brighton submit new official bid to Spurs for Luka Vušković. Understand proposal worth £45m package add-ons included. Tottenham to decide soon on Croatian CB future after two bids already rejected.”
Brighton are seeking a replacement for Jan Paul van Hecke, who has joined Spurs. The 26-year-old started 36 of Brighton’s 38 Premier League matches last season.
With the Dutch defender now entering the final year of his contract, the club are understood to feel they have secured strong value in the deal, which also includes a significant sell-on clause should he leave Tottenham in the future.
Luka Vuskovic could face a difficult path to regular minutes at Spurs next season, with Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Marcos Senesi and Van Hecke all competing for centre-back roles.
Reports suggest that Vuskovic has already agreed personal terms with Brighton and has held discussions with manager Fabian Hurzeler over his potential role in the squad.
The Croatian is believed to be keen on a move this summer in search of more regular game time. At Brighton, he would likely have a clearer pathway to minutes, particularly following Van Hecke’s departure.
With Lewis Dunk also in the latter stages of his career, Vuskovic could be viewed as a long-term defensive leader for the club.
