Derby County are yet to make a signing this summer, although they remain active in the market with several targets under consideration.
The Rams are competing with QPR to sign experienced midfielder Jamie Allen, who is available on a free transfer following his departure from Coventry City.
The 31-year-old spent seven years with the Sky Blues, making over 200 appearances before leaving after their promotion to the Premier League.
Allen brings extensive Championship experience, having been a key figure in the second tier throughout his time at Coventry.
Meanwhile, according to Sky Sports, Derby have agreed a deal with RB Salzburg to sign Bobby Clark. The former Liverpool midfielder is in the UK and is set to undergo a medical on Monday.
Derby head coach John Eustace has been keen to bring Bobby Clark back to the club after his impressive loan spell from RB Salzburg last season.
Although other clubs have shown interest, the player made it clear at the end of the campaign that he would like to return to Pride Park.
Clark made 45 appearances, scored four goals and provided four assists for Derby County across all competitions last term. His performances earned him a nomination for the EFL Young Player of the Season award, as well as Derby’s Young Player of the Season accolade.
Eustace said: “I think everyone connected with Derby can see how well he’s done, and he’s really part of the family, and we’d love to continue with his development.
“He’s a fantastic human being, great character for such a young boy, and when he came in, during pre-season, he hadn’t had a pre-season, over there in Austria.
“The way he’s adapted and really grown and matured as a player has been excellent. After watching his first game at West Brom, you could see he was quite a way off it, putting it politely, but the way he’s adapted and how he’s worked his socks off has been excellent.
“Now he’s reaping the rewards. He’s a top young player, and he’s an absolute pleasure to work with. I know there’s a lot more to come from him as well.”
As Derby look to complete the move, Clark’s former club Liverpool will also benefit financially, with a 17.5% sell-on clause included in his 2024 transfer to RB Salzburg.
Clark spent three years at Liverpool after joining from Newcastle United in August 2021. The midfielder made his senior debut a year later, coming off the bench in a 9-0 win over Bournemouth.
In total, he made 14 appearances for the Reds, including a substitute outing in the Carabao Cup final win over Chelsea at Wembley in February 2024.
He also scored in a Europa League tie against Sparta Prague during the 2023-24 campaign before sealing a permanent move to Salzburg in August 2024.
