Tottenham face Ipswich Town and Everton competition for 22-year-old forward from Levante

Tottenham are not set to have a straight run at the signing of La Liga’s rising star.

Work has already begun on revamping the Tottenham Hotspur squad Roberto De Zerbi inherited from Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor. Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke have officially completed their moves to White Hart Lane.

They are all defensive signings aimed at strengthening the base of the squad. The Spurs boss now wants to move up the pitch to make further additions too. Scoring goals was a big worry for the team this past season, with Richarlison being the top scorer with 12 strikes in all competitions. With Randal Kolo Muani having returned to PSG following the expiry of his loan, De Zerbi currently has only two genuine strikers at his disposal. This is a major area of concern that needs to be addressed without fail.

Recent reports have indicated Tottenham’s interest in signing Levante striker Karl Etta Eyong. Having transferred to Levante from Villarreal in 2025, Karl Etta Eyong enjoyed his breakout season in La Liga, registering seven goals and four assists in 33 appearances. After starting very strongly at Levante, he astonishingly scored just once in the league during the second half of the 2025/26 season.

Yet, the Cameroonian forward has no shortage of suitors in the transfer market.

Tottenham face competition from Premier League rivals for Levante forward Karl Etta Eyong

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Ipswich Town and Everton are planning to sign Karl Etta Eyong this summer.

The newly-promoted Ipswich Town are pushing to get the deal done, having opened talks with the Spanish club. The Tractor Boys view the 22-year-old as their primary striker target to bolster their forward line ahead of their return to the Premier League. Everton, meanwhile, could ruin their plans. The Royal Blues have launched an enquiry of their own, hoping to lure the African starlet to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

As far as Tottenham are concerned, they could consider a move for Etta Eyong if other targets fail to materialise. This means the Levante man isn’t their first-choice target to strengthen the attacking ranks. The report adds that the La Liga club are demanding €30million for Etta Eyong, who rejected a January move to CSKA Moscow to play in the Premier League.

With his pace, power, physicality, movement and finishing, Etta Eyong would have enough to thrive in the hustle and bustle of Premier League football. He is still developing and has rough edges that require sharpening, but any club landing him would get a player with full of promise, heart and energy.

At this moment, it would not be wrong to suggest Ipswich and Everton are ahead of Tottenham in the race for the Cameroonian international’s signature. The Lilywhites are just mere spectators and would only move for Etta Eyong if their primary targets become unattainable.
