25-year-old Tottenham star who came on as a substitute for England against Croatia, on…

Tottenham star featuring at the World Cup wanted by Everton.

It’s been a productive start to the summer transfer window for Tottenham Hotspur, having already confirmed three new additions through the door. Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson have both arrived on free transfers from Liverpool and Bournemouth, respectively, while Jan Paul van Hecke signed from Brighton earlier this week.

As far as the outgoings are concerned, a number of Spurs could also find new homes, as Roberto De Zerbi looks to reshape his squad. Djed Spence is one of those linked with an exit. The full-back had an up-and-down season like the majority of his Tottenham teammates. Under De Zerbi, the England international, who is currently on World Cup duty, was used mainly off the bench across the final seven fixtures of the 2025/26 season. He also came off the bench in England’s opener against Croatia.

Interestingly, he did start the last game against Everton at home, operating in an advanced role ahead of right-back Pedro Porro. Juventus have emerged as serious contenders to sign Djed Spence. However, the Serie A giants are not going to have a free run at the Tottenham full-back.

Djed Spence emerges on Everton radar

According to Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari on X, Djed Spence is on Everton’s list of right-back targets this summer. The other names on their shortlist are Atalanta’s Raul Bellanova and Aaron Wan-Bissaka of West Ham. Strasbourg full-back Guela Doue is also on the Toffees’ radar.

Seamus Coleman left Everton after 17 years at the club, and David Moyes desperately wants to replace the Irishman in his squad. He wants a right-back who can cover and compete with Jake O’Brien. Spence, in that regard, fits the criteria perfectly.

The 25-year-old was close to leaving Tottenham permanently in 2024, only for an injury crisis to open the door for him to feature in the first team, and he has not looked back since. The Englishman has made 85 appearances for the Lilywhites, chipping in with five goal contributions. With Pedro Porro penning an extension, and Robertson joining the club to compete with Destiny Udogie at left-back, Spence’s opportunities to play regularly next season may be limited.

This is where the ex-Nottingham Forest man could get enticed by Everton’s prospects. Now that he has also broken into the England squad, Spence would want to feature regularly and not stay as a back-up anymore. A move to Everton would allow him to do so, potentially giving the full-back a chance to establish himself in Moyes’ starting XI.

If the Toffees come up with an offer, it wouldn’t be surprising if Spence pushes for a move away from N17.
