Liverpool has its first signing of the Andoni Iraola era in the bag, and it’s no secret who the club’s next target is.

Victor Munoz’s transfer caught many off guard this week, with the Reds having hijacked Newcastle’s attempts to sign the winger from Osasuna, but there is no surprise in the club’s interest in Yan Diomande.

Liverpool has made it clear to RB Leipzig that it is willing to do a deal worth around $115 million for the 19-year-old, although the German club is determined to squeeze as much value out if they are to sell their prized possession. Not only that, but there is another potential issue lurking in the background for the Reds.

Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.

Yan Diomande (RB Leipzig)

Paris Saint-Germain will be ready to pounce for Diomande if it gets the green light from the player, David Ornstein has said on The Athletic FC podcast.

Although Liverpool is said to be leading the way in negotiations for the winger, PSG is still in the running for his signature, and Ornstein has confirmed the European champions do want Diomande.

They won't approach RB Leipzig, though, unless the 19-year-old tells them that he wants a move to Paris. Should they get that indication, then they will try and structure a deal.

Liverpool.com says: Liverpool will have to hope that Diomande is more interested in being the first-choice winger at Anfield than joining the best time in the world right now. As attractive a prospect as PSG is, it already has a ridiculous amount of talent to call upon on the wing, and moving to Paris could actually result in his career stalling a little.

Hopefully, the effort Liverpool is putting in for his signing will go a long way to make up his mind. Even if it does, though, there's still plenty of work to convince Leipzig to sell.

Khephren Thuram (Juventus)

Liverpool could battle with Manchester United for the signing of Khephren Thuram from Juventus this summer, with Corriere dello Sport claiming the Reds have reignited their interest in the midfielder.

Thuram has been linked with a move to Anfield previously, and there were strong rumors that he was heading to Merseyside while he was at his previous club, Nice.

It's claimed that Jurgen Klopp was keen on his signing, although the move never materialized. With Liverpool likely to be in the market for a midfielder this summer, though, it's suggested that Thuram is being looked at again, although United is also interested.

Liverpool.com says: Thuram missing out on a place in France's World Cup squad might well lead to him feeling as though he needs to move away from Juventus, especially with the Italian club missing out on Champions League qualification.

He's certainly a player worth keeping an eye on, although there was perhaps more made of Liverpool's reported interest while he was at Nice than was actually present. It all boils down to whether he would fit in with Iraola's plans.
