Alisson makes good save to keep clean sheet in routine Brazil World Cup win

Alisson‘s 2026 World Cup may not have got off to a great start, but his tournament kicked into gear thanks to Brazil’s 3-0 win over Haiti.

The South American giants faced a must-win game in Philadelphia in the early hours of Saturday morning, following their 1-1 draw with Morocco.

The pressure was on Carlo Ancelotti’s side after a disappointing opening result and performance in Group C, but they routinely saw off Haiti.

Alisson again started in goal for Brazil, keeping a clean sheet, with Matheus Cunha scoring a brace and Vinicius Junior also finding the net before half-time.

Former Liverpool midfielder Fabinho didn’t feature at all, having replaced Casemiro at half-time against Morocco.

What the stats say about Alisson’s performance

Alisson has certainly had tougher assignments than this – it wasn’t exactly Paris Saint-Germain away in 2024/25!

But the 33-year-old still reliably did his job, making one good save and three in total, with two of them inside the penalty area, per FotMob.

Alisson also won his only ground duel and even completed his one dribble in the game, as his all-round quality came to the fore.

How the media rated Alisson vs. Haiti

GOAL‘s Tom Hindle said that Alisson was “rarely troubled” but “moved the ball well when he had to,” giving him a 7/10 rating.

Meanwhile, Sophia Vesely of Sports Illustrated stated that Liverpool’s No. 1 “wasn’t really tested on the night”, but still gave him a score of 8.1.

Brazil’s win puts them in a strong position in Group C, with the Selecao leapfrogging Andy Robertson‘s Scotland after they were beaten 1-0 by Morocco.

In fact, they lead the group on goal difference, and victory over the Scots on Wednesday night will give them a strong chance of topping it.
