In the weeks leading up to the end of the 2025-26 Premier League season, Liverpool were widely expected to sell Alisson Becker but the first clue that he was staying was the Brazilian not receiving a farwell alongside Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah.
Of course, this was also the case with Ibrahima Konate, who was revealed days later to be on his way out of the club after Liverpool failed to reach an agreement with the Frenchman’s representatives on a new contract.
Alisson, however, unlike Konate, has a one-year automatic renewal clause, which gives Liverpool the legal right to extend his contract for an extra season. They exercised this clause to keep the 33-year-old at Anfield for one more year.
This move, however, reportedly left Juventus shocked as they believed they had all but secured a move to sign Alisson this summer.
This late rescue from Alisson denied Morocco and ensured it finished 1-1 ???

Fabrizio Romano reports that Juventus’ manager Luciano Spalletti was stunned by Liverpool U-Turn on Alisson
Reporting via his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has shed light on the consternation of Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti at learning that the Reds’ goalkeeper would not be heading to Turin after the 2026 World Cup.
He stated: “What was the original plan of Juventus’ transfer market under the Comolli management? Alisson.
“Because, as I’ve told you, the goalkeeper Juventus had identified for the 2026–27 season was absolutely the Brazilian. The deal with the player was practically close to being finalised, but then Liverpool decided to take him off the market.”
Romano continued*: “That left not only Juventus somewhat stunned, but also Luciano Spalletti himself, who was expecting guarantees regarding the Brazilian’s future — guarantees that ultimately turned out to be anything but guarantees.*
“So now Juventus will have to reassess the situation and evaluate alternative solutions.”
Liverpool signed Alisson for £66m in 2018, and he has since become the best goalkeeper in the world for a number of years. Only injuries have held the former AS Roma shotstopper back from reaching even more incredible heights.
At Anfield, Alisson has won every club trophy available as well as the Copa America with Brazil. Only the World Cup has eluded him, but he has the chance to win it this summer too.
