Aurelien Tchouameni may soon get a transfer to Man Utd. The Red Devils have renewed their interest in him after he decided to move out of Real Madrid.
Old Trafford renew interest in Tchouameni
As reported by Caught Offside, the Red Devils are showing interest in the 26-year-old French defensive midfielder. Tchouameni is expected to leave Bernabeu soon, since the 2025-26 season is now over. He was acquired from Monaco by Real Madrid in 2022 for an initial amount of €80 million, with €20 million as add-ons.
The French midfielder previously played for Monaco between 2020 and 2022. Before that, he played for the youth academy and the senior team of Bordeaux. He joined the youth academy in 2011. Subsequently, he joined the senior team in 2018.

How will Tchouameni’s potential transfer benefit Man Utd?
Tchouameni’s potential transfer to Man Utd will be a bonus. This is because the Red Devils have been struggling in the defense for the past few years. However, manager Carrick is hopeful of improving on this. United faced early exits in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. However, they finished third overall in the 2025-26 Premier League. This also helped them to secure a ticket for the upcoming UEFA Champions League.
Meanwhile, Tchouameni played well individually for Los Blancos in the 2025-26 season. Though they didn’t have a great time at Copa del Rey and Champions League, they finished in 2nd place in La Liga. Real Madrid also made it to the semifinals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. They lost to Paris Saint-Germain 4-0. Paris Saint-Germain eventually finished as runners-up. They lost to Chelsea 3-0 in the final.
Currently, Tchouameni aims to bring back the World Cup for Les Bleus. The French defensive midfielder is a core part of the French squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026. He was also a part of Les Bleus in the 2022 edition. The French team made it to the finals. This was their second successive final since the 2018 edition, where they won against Croatia. They lost to Argentina 4-2 on penalties.
Future gameplan for Aurelien Tchouameni
Tchouameni has a lot of tasks in hand. He has to work on his fitness as well as his discipline. The French midfielder sustained two significant injuries in November 2025 and April 2026 respectively. Tchouameni suffered a hamstring injury in November, and then injured his calf in April 2026. Additionally, he was served 8 yellow cards in La Liga.
If Tchouameni wants to make it big in European football, he needs to overcome these inconsistencies. If he agrees to join Man Utd, he can fill in the void left behind by Casemiro’s exit to some extent.
Undoubtedly, Casemiro’s departure will create a huge gap in the team’s defensive lineup. However, new manager Michael Carrick is hopeful of getting proper replacements. This is why the clubs are seeking players like Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba and Aurelien Tchouameni among others. It remains to be seen if Tchouameni accepts the offer from Old Trafford or not. If he does agree to join Man Utd, he has a promising future ahead.
