Liverpool in talks with player’s agent – Offer submitted and Reds in transfer chase

Liverpool are in ‘extensive talks’ with Yan Diomande’s agents as they look to beat the competition to the €100m signing.

BILD report that Liverpool’s formal bid for the RB Leipzig star come alongside intensive talks with his agents about a move to Anfield.

Liverpool offer rejected

Reports this week indicated that Liverpool have seen a €100m offer rejected by Leipzig for Yan Diomande this summer. The Reds are the first top club to put in a formal offer for the winger. They’ve been linked with a move for months.

Andoni Iraola’s side reportedly offered a fixed fee of €90m plus a potential €10m in bonuses. That’s not enough for Leipzig, who have him tied to a contract until 2030. They would seemingly only give the matter serious consideration if the offer was €120m or more.

Only the biggest clubs could afford such a fee. Paris Saint-Germain are in the mix as they prepare potential changes to their forward line.

BILD understands that Liverpool and PSG are the only sides currently in ‘intensive talks’ with Diomande’s agent. He would not be averse to joining either club. He’s declared himself a fan of both clubs in comments in recent months.

Yan Diomande

The belief is that if Yan Diomande goes on to make a big impression at the World Cup, other interested parties could sit up and take notice. Leipzig’s sporting director, Marcel Schäfer, has made his stance clear, though.

“We don’t have to say yes to any offer whatsoever,” he said.

“Yan doesn’t have a release clause. That means we’re in the driver’s seat and everyone else is in the back seat.”

Leipzig, for their part, are also in talks with Diomande’s agent about a new contract. That would mean longer terms and a higher salary. The German side are clearly not going to give up their star man without a fight.

Liverpool, then, have work to do. But they do have an advantage, with talks already underway with Diomande’s agents.
